Young people have faced a disruptive few years following the pandemic. By sticking with the plan, the Conservatives have boosted school funding to a record high, driven up school standards with 90 per cent of schools now rated good or outstanding, and driven up education standards across England. But there is more to do.
That is why the Conservatives have set out a clear plan, backed by bold action, to secure a brighter future for young people across Widnes and Halewood The manifesto promises to fund 100,000 high-quality apprenticeships, deliver 15 more SEND schools, transform 16-19 education, and create a school environment that sets our children up for success.
Only Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives have a clear plan and will take the bold action needed to deliver a brighter and more secure future for generations to come.
Sean Houlston has welcomed the launch of the Conservative Party’s manifesto, setting out a clear plan and bold action to build a brighter future for young people across Widnes and Halewood.
As part of the clear plan to deliver the world-class education every child deserves to set them up for life, the Conservatives will deliver the Advanced British Standard, mandate that every child does at least two hours of Physical Education per week, and legally require all schools to ban mobile phones - all to create an environment that supports the social and emotional development of every child.
Bold action is needed to tackle the complex and emerging issues that students are facing today. That is why the Conservatives will change the law so that gender questioning guidance becomes statutory in every school, ensuring that all schools know how to best support pupils questioning their gender.
The Conservatives will also legislate to create a register of children not in school to ensure that no child is left behind.
The Conservatives also have a clear plan to support children with SEND by delivering 15 more special free schools to ensure all children receive a world-class education and parents are given a real choice as to where to send their child to school.
Since 2010, the Conservatives’ have built a world-class apprenticeship system from the ground up – delivering almost 5.8 million apprenticeships that covers 70 per cent of occupations in the workforce today. The Conservatives have a clear plan to continue rolling out their successful apprenticeship programme by funding 100,000 high-quality apprenticeships, ensuring young people have the skills they need to get high-skilled, secure jobs, so they can secure a brighter future for themselves.
A vote for the Conservatives is a vote for a brighter future for this generation and the next. In Labour-run Wales, which Keir Starmer has called a ‘blueprint’ for a Labour government, education standards are the worst in the UK showing Labour have no plan to deliver better educational outcomes.
Commenting, Conservative Candidate for Widnes and Halewood, Sean Houlston said:
“As a school Chair of Governors, I know the past few years have been really challenging for students and young people following Covid, which is why we have a clear plan to deliver a brighter and more secure future.
“Our bold action will ensure that every child receives a world-class education that sets them up for a lifetime of opportunity and success, where they can reach their full potential.
“The choice for voters at this election is clear: stick with Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives who have a clear plan and will take the bold action needed to secure a brighter future for people across Widnes and Halewood. Or go back to square one with Keir Starmer and the same old Labour, who will halve the number of apprenticeships and drive down education standards, as they have in Wales.”
