Dear supporter,
Nationally and locally, this not the outcome we had hoped for, but I am filled immense pride and gratitude for having the opportunity to stand to be the Member of Parliament for Widnes and Halewood.
I want to express my deepest appreciation to my incredible team. Your hard work, dedication, and unwavering belief in our vision have been truly inspiring. To every volunteer who knocked on doors, made phone calls, and spread our message, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Do not lose faith, we will recover from this and be back and stronger than ever.
To the thousands of voters in Widnes and Halewood who backed me, thank you for placing your trust in me and giving me the opportunity to share our ideas and vision for the future.
While we did not achieve a victory, I always knew that overturning 79 years of Labour in their 11th safest seat would be extremely difficult. I congratulate Derek Twigg – a thoroughly decent man – on his victory and wish him all the best.
On a personal note, I want to thank my wife, family and friends for their unwavering support, encouragement, love and patience.
Ultimately, I am a Conservative because I believe in individual freedom, limited government and the rule of law and I believe only the Conservative party upholds these fundamental values. I will continue to support as a member, volunteer and officer as we rebuild our Party.
Thank you, and let’s look forward to what we can achieve together in the future.
Yours,
Sean Houlston
Former Conservative Candidate for Widnes and Halewood
